The new Jack Russell Memorial Library will become what we have always wanted our Library to be - a hub of activity filled with vibrant inquisitive people. Our vision for the future does not limit this to simply the process of discovering new ideas on a personal basis, but includes the gatherings of people who exchange ideas on different levels, creating, problem solving, and brainstorming for a variety of purposes.
The diversity of the collections will grow to include new media in addition to books, broadening the appeal of the library to younger people. The additional space and departments for various age groups and more dedicated programs will instill library usage as a habit to last a lifetime. Sure, the books will still be there and they will be better organized, with better assistance and guidance from the staff.
Today, the physical constraints of the existing Library compromise the ability to program, exhibit materials, teach, meet, process, and gather. Our Library, in spite of these challenges, has an impressive collection, is a respected source of information, and has dedicated Staff, Board of Trustees, and Friends of the Library.
The future is bright, especially with the new facility and with the support of the newly organized Friends of the Library. The Friends have pledged their support to the purposes of promoting the Library, advocating to maintain high standards, conducting programming, and raising money.
The future of the Jack Russell Memorial Library is strong in so many respects. It has the support, it will have the facilities and the programming, but what it needs right now is for the public to fully realize what a gem it will be. It will be a place not only to go to read a book, but it will be an institution that "gives back" to the community, making this area an even better place to live.
The Library is an investment in our future, and the future of generations to come. The Library Board of Trustees, with the help of the Friends of the Jack Russell Memorial Library, is determined to transform our Library into a community destination, not simply a place to check-out a book. |
